Key and Token Security
Bison Trails is entirely non-custodial and we never take possession of a customer’s private keys at any time. As such, we will never ask you for your private keys to run a Tezos baker, nor take custody of your Tezzies (XTZ) or other tokens.
Tezos requires that the validator self-bonds a portion of the total XTZ staked to their baker, which is kept in a hot wallet on signing infrastructure. Because Bison Trails does not take custody of customer assets, our customers must run the remote signer themselves, which connects to our secure validation infrastructure. We always help our customers every step of the way during onboarding to ensure that nodes are launched safely and successfully.
Metrics
The Bison Trails platform has advanced internal and external metrics, monitoring, and alerting. In general, metrics fall into the following categories:
Node performance
Uptime and status indicate how well the node has performed historically and its current status.
Blockchain status
Block level and baker balance give a real-time view into the Tezos blockchain.
Work performed
Memory and CPU usage give visibility into how much work the node is doing in processing the mempool and propagating blocks, among other duties.
Node Location
Bison Trails is a multi-cloud, multi-region node infrastructure provider with advanced orchestration, resourcing, monitoring and self-healing technologies. We maximize uptime and reward generation by running redundant nodes across multiple regions and cloud providers.
While the baker can move freely within Bison Trails infrastructure, the customer-run signer must remain within customer infrastructure.
