Key and Token Security
Bison Trails is entirely non-custodial and we never take possession of a customer’s private keys at any time. As such, we will never ask you for your private keys to run an Algorand node.
In the Algorand protocol, participation keys are required in order to participate in protocol consensus, and are able to be derived from private keys. This allows Algorand token holders to keep private keys in cold storage while using their participation keys to earn rewards for participating in protocol consensus.
In cases where a custodian is used, we will work with our customers and their custodian of choice to use our infrastructure, keeping tokens in the custodian’s control.
The Bison Trails platform has advanced internal and external metrics, monitoring, and alerting. Some are exclusive to Relay or Participation nodes, while others are relevant to both types. In general, they fall into the following categories:
Uptime and status indicate how well the node has performed historically and its current status.
Agreements handled and ledger round give a real-time view into the Algorand blockchain.
Memory and CPU usage give visibility into how much work the node is doing in processing the mempool and propagating blocks, among other duties.
Bison Trails is a multi-cloud, multi-region node infrastructure provider with advanced orchestration, resourcing, monitoring and self-healing technologies. As such, your node may move between clouds and regions to bring you the best results and impeccable service, while staying outside the US and in compliance with guidance from the Algorand team.
